Pre-Ride Inspection

Always perform a pre-ride inspection to ensure safety and proper operation.

  1. Check fuel level and ensure there are no leaks.
  2. Inspect tires for proper pressure and damage (Front: 5.1 psi / 35 kPa, Rear: 5.1 psi / 35 kPa).
  3. Verify all lights (headlights, taillights, brake lights) are functioning.
  4. Check brake operation and fluid levels.
  5. Ensure throttle moves smoothly and returns to idle.
  6. Check oil level and coolant level.
  7. Inspect drive chain for proper tension and lubrication.

WARNING! Never operate the ATV if any issues are found during inspection. Repair before riding.

Controls and Operation

Familiarize yourself with all controls before riding.

  1. Starting: Insert key, set engine stop switch to RUN, shift to PARK or NEUTRAL, pull brake lever, press start button.
  2. Driving: Select drive mode (H for high range, L for low range, N for neutral, R for reverse). Use throttle gradually.
  3. On-Command 4WD: Use switch to select 2WD, 4WD, or 4WD with differential lock for challenging terrain.
  4. Braking: Use both front and rear brakes together for controlled stops.
  5. Instrument Panel: Monitor speed, fuel, and warning indicators.

CAUTION! Always wear appropriate safety gear including helmet, eye protection, gloves, and boots.

Fluid Checks and Changes

Use recommended Yamaha fluids or equivalents.

  1. Engine Oil: Check with ATV on level ground. Change oil and filter per schedule (Capacity: 3.7 qt with filter change).
  2. Coolant: Check level in reservoir when engine is cold. Change coolant every 2 years (Capacity: 1.8 qt).
  3. Brake Fluid: Check level in master cylinder reservoirs. Use DOT 4 fluid. Change every 2 years.
  4. Front/Rear Gear Oil: Check and change per maintenance schedule.

Tip: Always dispose of used fluids properly at a recycling center.

Tire and Wheel Care

Maintain correct tire pressure for optimal handling and tire life.

  1. Check pressure when tires are cold with a quality gauge.
  2. Recommended pressure: 5.1 psi (35 kPa) front and rear for standard loads.
  3. Inspect tires for cuts, punctures, and excessive wear.
  4. Ensure wheel nuts are tightened to specification (65 Nm / 47 lb-ft).
  5. Balance wheels if vibration occurs at high speed.

WARNING! Do not exceed maximum tire pressure indicated on sidewall. Under-inflation can cause overheating and failure.

Storage Procedures

Proper storage prevents damage during periods of non-use.

  1. Clean the ATV thoroughly.
  2. Change engine oil and filter.
  3. Add fuel stabilizer to a full tank of fuel and run engine for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove spark plug, add a teaspoon of oil into cylinder, and crank engine slowly before reinstalling plug.
  5. Disconnect battery negative terminal and store battery in a cool, dry place on a maintainer.
  6. Inflate tires to recommended pressure and store on blocks to lift tires off ground.
  7. Cover with a breathable cover in a dry, well-ventilated area.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in carburetor or fuel lines without stabilizer.
