Pre-Ride Inspection

Always perform a pre-ride inspection to ensure your ATV is safe to operate.

  1. Check fuel level and ensure there are no leaks.
  2. Inspect tires for proper pressure and any damage.
  3. Test brakes for proper operation and check fluid levels.
  4. Check all lights (headlights, taillights, brake lights).
  5. Ensure throttle moves smoothly and returns to idle.
  6. Check oil level and look for any fluid leaks under the ATV.
  7. Verify that all controls (handlebars, levers) are secure.

WARNING! Never operate an ATV that fails any part of the pre-ride inspection. Repair any issues before riding.

Controls and Operation

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting the engine.

  1. Starting: Insert key, set parking brake, shift to Neutral (N), pull choke if cold, press start button.
  2. Driving: Release parking brake, select Forward (F) or Reverse (R), apply throttle gradually.
  3. 2WD/4WD Selection: Use the On-Command switch on the left handlebar to select 2WD or 4WD.
  4. Differential Lock: Engage only when extra traction is needed and at low speeds.
  5. Braking: Use both front and rear brakes together for controlled stopping.

CAUTION! Always wear an approved helmet, eye protection, and protective clothing. Never carry passengers.

Fluid Checks and Changes

Use only recommended Yamaha fluids and follow proper procedures.

  1. Engine Oil: Check with ATV on level ground. Warm up engine, then shut off. Wait a few minutes, remove dipstick, wipe, reinsert, and check level. Change oil and filter per schedule.
  2. Front/Rear Gear Oil: Check levels at fill plugs. Change fluid according to maintenance schedule.
  3. Brake Fluid: Check reservoir levels. Fluid should be between MIN and MAX lines. Replace fluid if discolored or if level is low.
  4. Coolant: Check level in reservoir (if equipped with liquid cooling on some models).

Tip: Dispose of used fluids properly at a designated recycling center.

Tire Care and Pressure

Proper tire pressure ensures optimal handling, traction, and tire life.

WARNING! Never exceed the maximum pressure listed on the tire sidewall. Under-inflation can cause tire failure.

Storage Procedures

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Clean the ATV thoroughly.
  2. Change the engine oil and filter.
  3. Add fuel stabilizer to a full tank of fuel and run the engine for 5 minutes.
  4. Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal and store battery in a cool, dry place.
  5. Inflate tires to recommended pressure and block the ATV off the ground.
  6. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area, covered with a breathable cover.

CAUTION! Do not store with fuel in the carburetor bowl without stabilizer, as it can varnish and clog jets.

Safety Information

ATVs can be hazardous to operate. Always follow these rules:
