  4. Check brake lever and pedal operation.
  5. Ensure throttle moves smoothly and returns freely.
  6. Check oil level and coolant level (if equipped).
  7. Look for loose bolts, leaks, or damaged parts.

WARNING! Never operate an ATV without proper inspection. Failure to do so may result in accident or injury.

Fluid Checks & Changes

Use only Yamaha-recommended fluids.

  1. Engine Oil: Check with ATV on level ground. Warm up engine, then turn off. Remove dipstick, wipe, reinsert, and check level. Add Yamalube 4 (10W-30) if low. Change oil and filter every 100 hours or 1500 miles.
  2. Coolant: Check level in reservoir when engine is cold. Add Yamaha Coolant or equivalent 50/50 mix if low.
  3. Front Differential Oil: Check level at fill plug. Use SAE 80W-90 API GL-5 gear oil.
  4. Brake Fluid: Check level in master cylinder reservoirs. Use DOT 4 brake fluid.

WARNING! Engine and fluids are hot after operation. Allow to cool before servicing.

Tire & Wheel Care

Maintain proper tire pressure for handling and tire life.

CAUTION! Under-inflated or over-inflated tires can cause poor handling, overheating, or failure.

Storage Procedures

Proper storage prevents deterioration during periods of non-use.

  1. Clean the ATV thoroughly.
  2. Change engine oil and filter.
  3. Add fuel stabilizer to a full tank of gas and run engine for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove spark plug, add a teaspoon of oil into cylinder, and crank engine slowly. Reinstall plug.
  5. Disconnect battery negative terminal and store battery in a cool, dry place on a tender.
  6. Inflate tires to recommended pressure and block ATV off the ground.
